United States Black American activist,Rev.Jesse Jackson
delivered a lecture in Yenegoa,Bayelsa state capital in Nigeria,on Thursday May
16th,as part of activities marking 2013 ‘’Boro Day’’celebration.
The lecture is on ‘’Oil and Politics: Compatibility for Sustainable
Growth’’.Speaking while flagging off the celebration on Thursday, governor
Seriake Dickson said the late Isaac Boro deserved every honor the people of
Niger Delta can afford, saying he was a hero who taught people of the region
how to be courageous,sacrificial,and confident in themselves.
The governor commended people of Kaiama,Boro’s hometown for
coming en masse to show solidarity to the departed hero,and assured them that
their son would not die in vain .He said he had fulfilled the promise he made
to them during the Boro Day celebration,last year,to construct the road to Boro
Town.
The governor at the time, promised to do more, saying the
Isaac Boro Institute which he laid the foundation stone on the occasion would
be completed in record time, in his quest to transform the town into a thriving
city in Bayelsa.
